We sensitize youth on the effects of HIV/AIDS and teach youth on how to avoid transmission of the disease. In addition, we promote life skills will help young people to understand themselves and therefore make more responsible decision. We strive to teach youth to understand themselves and their values toward the society. We also discuss other alternatives to sexual relationships. Drug Abuse Prevention TAYODEA in collaboration with the Tanzania Drug Control Commission conducted a baseline survey in Tanga City in December 2007 whereby the addicted youth were visited and a dialogue was done to identify how they can be resurrected from addiction. The visit was conducted in Majengo Ward, Bomboka jobless corner where 7 addicted youth were identified and Chumbageni Ward, Bankok jobless corner where 4 resurrected youth were identified. TAYODEA has organized a seminar with stake holders in Tanga City Council Hall on January,2008 and identified the youth groups affected. The environmental conservation project focuses planting trees in areas hit by pollution and educating the community on conservation. In addition, TAYODEA is attempting to conserve places that are prone to soil erosion. TAYODEA has seen success with planting trees in areas devastated by population growth and pollution. In the Majengo Ward of Tanga City, 180 Cassia Siamea trees were planted to improve the vegetation of the area. Over 1000 Mangroves have been planted in the Chongoleani Ward along the Indian Ocean in Tanga Region. TAYODEA is working to conserve the natural forest of the Usambara West Mountains. Mass deforestation has disrupted the natural ecosystem. TAYODEA provides training for local environmental groups. We also teach with youth organization how to prevent other types of environmental hazards, like air pollution, noise pollution, plastic materials, etc. An additional program under development includes more of the community in environmental conservation. We are working with primary and secondary schools, where students receive five trees to plant. We are also introducing dialogue with churches and mosques on environmental conservation and give members seeds to plant. Youth Seminars
